Gudrun Gut es una figura clave de la escena underground de Berlín y precursora de la música industrial que comenzaba a emerger a principios de 1980 con Einstürzende Neubauten, banda a la que perteneció en sus comienzos.
En 1981, es miembro fundadora del grupo Malaria! conformado por mujeres y a finales de los ’80 forma Matador, también una banda femenina. Gut fue una activa promotora de la música electrónica como productora y DJ. Creó el sello Monika Enterprise que reúne a artistas mujeres de la escena underground electrónica.
En este disco Gut reúne la cold wave, synth-pop, entre otras combinaciones inclasificables, con su voz sensual y oscura cubre sus canciones con un halo de misterio, junto a un ritmo contagioso con acercamientos al house (“Musik”) que permite mover ligeramente nuestros cuerpos.
La música de Gut no es predecible, mientras nos dejamos llevar por los ritmos seductores, asoman las comprimidas, sombrías y gruesas notas del sintetizador (“Seltene Erde”).
La versión synth-pop de “Baby I Can Drive My Car” de The Beatles no deja de sorprender, mientras que “Lover” en clave hipnótica nos lleva a un viaje en trance. En tanto “Are You Hungry?” parece un mantra moribundo junto a un ritmo cancino.
“Backup” que cierra el álbum muestra la faceta experimental que también se observa en algunos tracks del disco con secuencias del sintetizador.
La música de Gudrun Gut están accesible como compleja.

Gudrun Gut is a key figure of Berlin’s underground scene and a precursor of industrial music that started to emerge in the early 1980s with Einstürzende Neubauten, a band to which she was an early member.
In 1981 she is a founding member of the female band Malaria! and in the late 80’s formed Matador, also a female unit. Gut was an active promoter of electronic music as a producer and DJ. She founded Monika Enterprise label that brings together female artists from the electronic underground scene.
In this album Gut brings together the cold wave, synth-pop, among other unclassifiable combinations, with his sensual and dark voice covers her songs with a halo of mystery, along with a contagious rhythm with approaches to house (“Musik”) that allows to move our bodies slightly.
The music of Gut is not predictable while we let ourselves be carried away by the seductive beats, appears the compressed, murky and thick synthesizer notes on “Seltene Erde”.
The synth-pop version of The Beatles’s “Baby I Can Drive My Car” both is surprising as unpredictable, while “Lover” in a hypnotic vein takes us in an inducing trance. Meanwhile “Are You Hungry?” seems like a dying mantra along with a deadbeat rhythm.
“Backup” that close the album shows the experimental side with synthesizer sequences which is also listened in other tracks of the album.
Gudrun Gut’s music is both accessible as complex.
